Announcing the Agneepath scheme, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the scheme would increase employment opportunities. The skills and experience gained during Agniveer’s service will lead to employment in various fields. What is Agneepath Yojana?
The Agneepath scheme of the Indian Armed Forces is one such scheme in which the selected candidates will be registered as Agniveer for a period of four years. Upon completion of the four year term, Agniveer will return to the society to build his career in the profession of his choice with the aim of finding employment in other fields as a disciplined, dynamic, motivated and skilled manpower.
These firefighters will be given the opportunity to apply for registration in the permanent cadre after completing their term in accordance with the organizational requirements and policies declared by the Armed Forces. Of these, about 25 per cent firefighters will be selected to join the armed forces as a regular cadre. The scheme provides an opportunity for Indian youth who want to serve the country to join the armed forces in the short term. The scheme improves the profile of the youth of the Armed Forces.
Who can avail this scheme?
The age of the youth for recruitment in Agneepath scheme should be from 17 years 6 months to 21 years. The youth will have the opportunity to serve in the Armed Forces for a total of 4 years including the training period. Recruitment will be done as per the rules laid down by the Army.
What are the benefits of this scheme?
The proposal envisages providing youth with the opportunity to serve in the Army for a short period of time. The move will also create a more youthful and technically capable combat force by ensuring a harmonious balance between the youth and the experienced personnel in the armed forces.
What are the broad objectives of this scheme?
– To enhance the youthful image of the Armed Forces so that they are equipped with their best fighting skills and better risk-taking ability at all times.
– To attract young talents from the society to use, adopt and use the emerging modern technologies equipped with advanced technological frontiers by taking advantage of the technical institutes of the country.
– To provide opportunity to the youth who want to serve the nation in uniform for a short period.
– Assimilate the enthusiasm, courage, empathy, commitment and group spirit of the Armed Forces among the youth.
– To equip the youth with qualities and qualities like discipline, enthusiasm, motivation and efficiency so that they prove to be an asset to us.
Annual package under Agniveer scheme
The firefighters will be kept on a monthly salary of Rs 30,000 in the first year. With EPF / PPF facility, Agniveer will get Rs 4.76 lakh in the first year. By the fourth year the salary will be 40 thousand rupees i.e. 6.92 lakh rupees annually.
These allowances will be available with an annual package
Some allowances will also be available with the annual package including risk and difficulty, rations, dress and travel allowance. If Agniveer becomes disabled during service, full pay and interest for non-service period will also be available. The service fund will be exempted from income tax. Agniveer will not be entitled to gratuity and pension benefits. The firefighters were paid Rs. Non-exchange life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh will also be provided.
